Two Words that Equal Action

My guess is that you’ve uttered those words before. Am I right?

“If I just_____ I can...”

“If I just_____ I will....”

“If I just_____ I won’t…”

“If I just_____ I’ll feel…”

Starting a sentence with those three words is basically giving yourself permission to forever procrastinate and to never be satisfied.  Woof, that sounds harsh doesn’t it?

Those words make it feel like we have direction and a plan, but what you can’t see in the moment is the “plan” and “direction” is actually just spinning you in circles.  You won’t ever progress forward.

You know why those words spin you in a circle?  They remove your power because one thing hinges on the other.  Here’s the good news....a quick shift of the phrase will give you back your power and actually set you on the path to progress.

“I will…..”

When you say, “I will…” your brain will naturally lead you to think to yourself…”what….what do we do next?” It’s a leading question that pushes you into an action.

State it, own it and create the action.  YOU are in the driver’s seat of your life. If YOU want a change, YOU are the one who has to make the choice and take action.

I WILL = Driver’s seat

IF I JUST = Passive passenger

Try it this week and see how it makes you feel.  You have the power to do whatever you want in your life.  You know what I always say….Grab Life by the Betties!

Have a great week.

P.S.  Use this phrase when you say to yourself, “I need” by following up the statement with “I will” ...that puts the accountability back on you and leads you to actually take an action.
